April's Adventurous Haikus

April's Adventurous Haikus

April has always been the in-between month for me. Too cold for swimming (so I've been told), and too hot for winter's snow. If only there was a type of prose to fully realize the beauty and complexity of such an in-between month--but wait! There is.

There are many complex styles of poetry to describe the nuance of April, isn't there? Wrong! There is only one which earns my respect and heart, and that is a haiku!

I'll never forget the first time I encountered a haiku. Its description and undertone of pure, glorious joy left me stunned for months. It literally left me paralyzed. However, that period of my life was truly a blessing. Because I could read more haikus! Not to mention, I also learned a bit of Japanese to fully appreciate their wonder!

Suffice to say, I adore a good haiku. Why don't you read some and see what I mean?

Creative Harmony

Pitter patter goes

the raindrops. They join in with

my keyboards clicking.

Natural Air

Crickets chirping this night

through the window; a breeze.

Morning Struggles

 Hopes certainly high,

chill milk sits inside the fridge–

but no more cereal!

If those adventurous haikus aren't enough to convince you this is the best form of human poetry then you truly are lost.

Either way, may you read many more poems in the future.
